Community Service
Through our projects we aim to include all sections of the community.

For the young at heart
Each year we plan to hold a summer garden party for a relatively small number of guests and coach tour with afternoon tea to the coast, or other attractions such as Kew Gardens, or Wisley.
At Christmas we have an afternoon party with entertainment for approx. 90 guests
Regular visits with music and entertainment are made to local residential care homes.
Grocery Collection
In December we have an annual collection in Fleet, when we ask customers at the local supermarket to purchase one additional item of non-perishable food or toiletries and donate this to us on their way out of the store. We then distribute Christmas Hampers to local elderly and larger items are taken to local nursing homes to be enjoyed by the residents.
Younger members of the community also benefit from this collection as we take larger hampers to a project in Aldershot for homeless people.
THANK YOU to everyone who visited us at Morrisons Supermarket on Elvetham Heath 22/23 November. Thanks you your kindness and
generosity we will be making up hampers to the value of approx. £1,200 for those less fortunate than ourselves this Christmas.
For the young
Most of our involvement with the youth of Fleet and Church Crookham centres around SNAP (Say No and Phone) Discos and SCAM events which are held once a month in the Harlington Centre in Fleet. Hart Lions Club has been involved in this venture from the outset and have watched the events grow from the inital 100 young people to the present number of just over 500 each month.
These events require a large adult presence and this is achieved by working in partnership with Fleet Lions, Hampshire Youth Service and Hampshire Police. For more information please visit www.snapfleet.co.uk
International Peace Poster Contest:
We also invite pupils aged 11,12, and 13 from local schools to tell how important world peace is to their future by entering the International Peace Poster Contest. We look for the poster which best depicts the theme set annually by Lions Clubs International (2008-2009)'Peace Begins With Me'). No words just pictures.
Young Ambassadors of the 21st Century:
The aim of this scheme is to: recognise, encourage and support young people aged 15 to 19 who are actively involved in community service work. In the past candidates have been involved in helping the disabled or the elderly, conservation projects, crime prevention, promoting healthier lifestyles, hospital radio, St John Ambulance, Scouts, and Guides.
Cash bursaries are awarded at each stage of the contest. If you would like to nominate a young person - please let us know.
Support to individuals:
Donations have been made to support young people to attend J8 Summit in Edinburgh and a conference in New York.
